Another 1D Run!

On July 12th Fancy and I headed out for another afternoon of barrel racing! We had a little change though- I brought my other mare, Scotch, along too. She's a pleasure horse through and through; we used to compete on a state level- and would have been on a national level if we had the means- in western pleasure and halter. But, I thought it would be fun to bring her along and have some silly fun with her. I exhibitioned her once and loped her in between barrels... and she loped, with her head level and nose tucked, as a pleasure horse should do. She was adorable. She also let my mom jog her through a pattern, so I'm very happy with her behavior for that ride.

I exhibitioned Fancy twice, and then it was on to the open.

There was an average amount of competition for the arena with about 35 competitors in the open division. Fancy was definitely happy to have her friend (Scotch) there, and was very distracted while we waited our turn to run.
But, of course, when it came time for our run, she was all business. We had a little slip around first but she collected herself beautifully with a fine turn on barrel two, and a great turn around three. I just love this mare so much. Take a look at our 17.309 run below!
