Corolla Wild Horses

There are a lot of things I love, and vacation is high up on the list. Although I love my fur babies and my farm, sometimes it’s just nice to be away from responsibilities and focus on relaxing! This year we decided to take the truck to the four wheel drive beach north of Corolla, hoping to spot some of the wild horses. Our first trip wasn’t successful (although we had fun just driving on the beach!), but we decided to swing by on our way home. I couldn’t be more grateful that we did.

My husband was driving, and I was looking as hard as I could for the slightest hint of a horse. I was looking off the beach towards the dunes, and 100% focused. Suddenly, my husband says, “there they are!”, and I’m frantically looking off the beach yelling about how I couldn’t see them. They were actually RIGHT IN FRONT OF US, off by the water! I whipped my camera out and tried my best to get some decent shots, but didn’t have time to properly adjust the settings.

You have to stay at least 50 feet away from the horses at all times, for their health. Being aware of this, I walked on foot behind them as they quietly and nonchalantly walked away, trying to catch a few more pictures. I got back in the truck and we turned around to leave, and we saw them walking through someone’s property. SO JEALOUS! This was such a special experience for me. I can’t wait to return next year and hopefully spot some foals!
