Stitch Fix Review #4 & #5 – January (Part 2) and February 2015

It’s that time again! If you’re unfamiliar with Stitch Fix, you can check out my first review here, but here’s a quick rundown: Fill out a “Style Profile” about yourself and your style, set up a date for your first “Fix”, fill out a note to your own personal stylist for what you’re looking for, and bam! Get five items (usually four pieces of clothing and an accessory) delivered to your doorstep. Pay a $20 styling fee (it goes towards any item you keep). Try everything on with your favorite pieces. Decide what you want to keep within three days and send back (for free) what you don’t. Check out online and let them know why you love- or don’t love- everything. Keep all five and get 25% off! After a very successful December Fix, I decided to up my Fixes to every month instead of every other month. Unfortunately, I only kept one piece from my 4th Fix, so I figured I’d just combine #4 and #5 together. The good news? #5 was the best yet!!
Here’s what I got:
Brixon Ivy Heidi Scallop Hem Pencil Skirt ($68)
I’m so glad this skirt was in my 4th Fix, otherwise the entire box would have been a waste of $20. And honestly, my Fix wasn’t that bad, but everything was just off the mark for me. Except this skirt! This skirt is the perfect work skirt. It’s fun, fashionable, unique, comfortable, and appropriate. I love how bright it is! The pockets give it that little extra flare without being too much. The only thing I was on the fence about was that the pockets give me a little extra width, but the scalloped hem is too cute and unique not to keep! And speaking of awesome Stitch Fix pieces in this picture…
Papermoon Alstead Embellished Shoulder Knit Top ($48) Kut From The Kloth Danny Knit Pant ($48)
Oh my gosh, this shirt! I have never worn a more comfortable and flattering t-shirt in my whole life. I guess I also have never tried on a $48 t-shirt. It is completely my style. I love the relaxed look, with that little flare in the shoulder area. I love the color with my skin tone and hair, and have I mentioned how COMFY this shirt is?! I can dress it up or down, and the fit is absolutely perfect.
Speaking of absolutely perfect fit, these Danny pants are incredible. I know I’ve said before that the Mystree Dorinda Faux Leather Detail Sweater Jacket is the greatest thing on this planet, but these pants are also the greatest thing on this planet. The fact that someone who has never met me, sent me pants that fit me perfectly in every way, is incredible. I know I’ll say this a few times this post, but my new stylist, Megan, is my favorite person ever. I need these pants in every color, because not only do they look great on, but they’re just as comfortable (if not more so) than yoga pants! These are the perfect “boot pants”, which is great since I own about 20 pairs of boots between normal boots and cowboy boots. (I used to work in a shoe store, don’t judge me!)
LE LIS Columbus Pullover Knit Top ($38)
This top is the perfect casual sweater type shirt. I wasn’t too sure about the lace detail at first, but I do love this top. I love the color, the fit, and the style. Plus, the price is great for designer brand/high quality clothes! This is definitely going to be my rainy day go-to sweater when I want to be comfortable, but still look nice.
Papermoon Jonie Printed Elastic Waist Dress ($64)
I was so excited when I saw this in my Fix! I pinned this dress a couple months ago secretly hoping it would make its way to me. The print is amazing! I loved my stylist’s note to try this with a denim jacket and riding boots, which I just so happened to have in my closet. I styled it with and without the jacket, but I think I like it with the jacket more. The elastic waist was in a little bit of a weird place, but it works out okay with the jacket.
Kensie Rebekah Contract Detail Blazer ($88- Price Matched to $64.99)
Unfortunately, I didn’t get any good pictures to show off how awesome this blazer is. The boyfriend didn’t mention that the one side was flipped when he was taking pictures (but I guess I’ll forgive him since he’s nice enough to take pictures for me to begin with!). BUT. This is the greatest blazer I’ve ever owned. I love that the sleeves have a little polka dot detail, giving that little extra personality to a staple business piece. The fit is also just right. For my office job, this is definitely going to be worn a lot!
So, here’s my final verdict:

Fix #4 was disappointing, which was surprising since I had had the same stylist for most of my previous Fixes successfully. However, I was so excited when I got Fix #5 that I requested my new stylist, Megan, to be my permanent stylist. She took the time to look over my Style Profile, read my notes, and clearly looked through my Pinterest board. I feel like she also gets my style, which is awesome because I don’t even get my style most of the time. I also love that I could make a few different outfits just from the five pieces I got. Fix #5 is my favorite so far, and I am SO looking forward to the next one!
I’d also like to add that I went shopping yesterday for the first time in a few months, and I’m so spoiled from Stitch Fix. After three hours of trying to find a decent pair of pants (and much disappointment), I think I’ll just stick with Stitch Fix for my shopping. Since I’ve signed up I’ve gotten a much clearer idea of what my style is, what looks good on me (and what doesn’t), and that quality really is better than quantity.
And here’s what I didn’t keep from Fix #4:
Pixley Ellie Elephant Print Blouse ($48)
Don’t get me wrong, I love animals more than most things, but this shirt was WAY too busy. The elephants were not my style whatsoever. Maybe if there had been just little elephants with much less detail and no diamonds in the background, this shirt would have been bearable, if it wasn’t for the awful fit. On the plus side, the material is wonderful!
Caramela Voltaire Lace Detail Cardigan ($38)
The lace just didn’t look like it belonged on this sweater, almost like an afterthought. The material was also thin and seemed like it’d be ruined very quickly. The color was pretty, though.
Market & Spruce Corinna Striped Dolman Top ($48)
This just did not fit me right. It was too tight in the sleeves and way too loose everywhere else. I love dolman tops, but this one just didn’t work. The colors also were a little too drab for me, especially since Spring is coming!
Skies Are Blue Galla Mesh Detail Sweater ($48)
I almost kept this one. But, I just couldn’t get past the mesh material- it reminds me too much of fishnet stockings (which is not my style). I loved how fresh the white color was, but I didn’t love it enough to spend the money on it.
