Stitch Fix Review #22 – June 2017

It has been a wonderful, stressful, and successful weekend! My mom drove down for a visit and accompanied me to try on my wedding dress for the first time since it arrived. (I love it even more than I did the first time I saw it, by the way!) We laughed, cried, and shopped until we literally almost dropped. After a day full of mother-daughter shenanigans, I was delighted to see a Stitch Fix box waiting at my door!
So, what did I get?
Report Footwear Gypsy Studded Gladiator Sandal ($49)
Summer-ready and work appropriate, these sandals are just what I need! I received a pair of sandals in my last Fix and mentioned I’d love another. My job allows sandals, as long as they have backs, so these fit the bill! Unfortunately, the fit is a bit off. While I love this style, the last strap kind of strangles my pinky toe. I think they’re just a touch too big, which makes them a little uncomfortable. A size exchange might fix the issue, but with the wedding sneaking up on me, I need to limit my spending.

I’ve noticed lately that, even though my closet is full of all kinds of goodies, I never seem to have anything to wear to work. With that in mind, I requested work appropriate tops and dresses. This top couldn’t be more work appropriate if it tried! I do like that I can wear it with jeans, dress pants, or tuck it in to a skirt. It also looks great with a blazer or a denim jacket. The colors together aren’t my favorite, but overall, I think I would wear this a lot. (Bonus: my fiance’s comment when I walked into the room wearing this shirt: “What’s up, 1970’s grandma?” Whatever, I still love it.)
Now let’s talk about the jeans. Much to my dismay, these gorgeous jeans are just a touch too tight. I’ve heard that these do stretch with wear, but for $98, they need to fit perfectly. The ankle area is a bit tighter than I’m used to with skinny jeans, but other than that, I love the look of these. They are so soft and, if they fit properly, I could definitely see wearing these all the time. I could exchange for a size up but I’d be nervous that the fit would be a little off still. Plus, I’m still in the midst of losing weight, so I wouldn’t want to size up with how close these are to fitting.
French Grey Arielle Knit Dress ($54)
Bring me all of the floral patterns! The length on this is perfect for my office-appropriate request, and the straps are wide enough, too. The fit is… okay. I notice my out-of-shape stomach in it, but I’m frequently reminded that I am my own worst critic. I added the denim jacket, and boom. Love it!
Liverpool Mirabella Roll Cuff Skinny Jean ($78)
I asked for muted mint skinny jeans for this Fix. These are definitely a lot brighter than I had in mind, but they do match the request. They’re so very soft, and the thick material allows a more flattering fit. Unfortunately for me, these also have that elastic waistband I don’t love, instead of the regular button. If these had been a regular length, I could probably get over the waistband, but they’re such an awkward length to me. They’re too short to be ankle length, and too long to be a cropped length. (I also don’t really like cropped length on me, anyway). I tried these with flats and sandals, and they just didn’t look right. So close, yet not quite what I needed.

As always, my stylist did a wonderful job of hitting all my requests, and every piece sent makes total sense. My requests were a pair of non-distressed jeans, a pair of muted mint skinny jeans, a pair of work-appropriate sandals, and work appropriate shirts and/or dresses.
I’ve had pretty remarkable luck with most of my Fixes, but the truth of the matter is, a stylist has no way to know how something is going to exactly fit you, so you really can’t (and shouldn’t) expect a perfect Fix every time. As my body has been changing with my weight loss, I’ve found even myself confused as to what size I am. With that being said – even though I didn’t necessarily love everything sent, I’m so appreciative of the thought put in for this Fix!
I know I say this all the time, and then I break my promise, but I’m going to try to hold off on getting another Fix for a few months. The wedding planning is in full swing, and as much as I love Stitch Fix dresses, I have a more important dress I need to focus on! Fear not, I’ll definitely get another Fix before the wedding, to complete my honeymoon wardrobe. Until next time!
Never heard of Stitch Fix before?
What exactly is it? Stitch Fix is this great online service where a personal stylist sends you five items they think you’ll love. Here’s how it works:
1. Sign up! My referral link is: https://www.stitchfix.com/invite/zsbcmtchf4?sod=w&som=c
2. Fill out your “Style Profile”. Be honest and make sure you add lots of notes so your stylist can really get to know you! Also, I definitely recommend adding a Pinterest board, if you have one. Plus, if you’re like me and don’t like to spend too much on clothes, I’d add something along the lines of “Please be economical, I rarely spend more than $20 on any item”.
3. Set up when you would like your “Fix” shipped. You can have these sent out automatically every 2-3 weeks, every month, every other month, etc, OR you can just pick a date without setting up automatic shipments.
4. Add a note to your stylist. I always say something along the lines of, “I need cardigans for work” or, “I’m looking for a perfect date night dress”.
5. Pay a $20 styling fee (if you keep one item or more, that $20 goes towards your order!)
6. Get high-quality clothes and accessories delivered to your door! Try them on in the comfort of your home with your favorite other pieces. Take three days (or more, depending if your shipment comes early) to decide what you love and don’t love. Send any unwanted items back with free shipping. Keep all five items, get 25% off your whole order. Pay online and let them know what you think of each item. It’s the easiest, most convenient thing I’ve ever done.
