Stitch Fix Review #25 – December 2017

Now that all the wedding madness has started to calm down, I finally don’t feel bad about ordering a Fix for myself! Plus, there’s nothing wrong with getting yourself a little Christmas gift! I am in need of more sweaters, and honestly, I just want comfy clothes! I’m ready for some winter hibernation and foresee many evenings relaxing on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate. So, I asked for “unique, comfortable sweaters”, a pair of medium wash jeans, and maybe a pair of flats or booties for my knee that won’t let me wear cute heels anymore. I also noted that I wanted Winter pieces, and asked for a top with bell sleeves, if they had any.
So, what did I get?
Edge Accessories Tesslyn Reversible Wrap ($48)
Okay, this is cute. And totally my style. I think of a wrap as more of a spring/summer piece, but I love this layered over the long sleeved t shirt (which was recommended in my note from my stylist). It will go great with jeans and boots, or sandals in the summer. And that pattern is so pretty! This one’s a keeper!
Emory Park Aptos Ribbed Turtleneck Knit Top ($38)
In theory, this is nice. It would work well under cardigans or a jean jacket for my daily work wardrobe. These types of tops never seem to be flattering on me, though. The tummy area is always accentuated and who wants that? I love the color though, and my stylist was thorough enough to mention it would look good with the jacket I got in my FIRST fix. She’s awesome.
MIX BY 41 HAWTHORN Fillmore Essential Knit Top ($32)
I’m sorry, but I just can’t get behind spending $32 on a plain, white long sleeved t shirt. My favorite thing about Stitch Fix, and the reason I don’t mind the higher priced items (than my usual shopping), is the unique items. I’ll spend $60 on a sweater if I love it and I can’t find anything like it anywhere else, but this whole $32 for a plain t shirt is ridiculous to me. With that being said, I get why my stylist sent this- it makes a perfect outfit with the Edge Accessories wrap! It’s nice getting a whole outfit in a fix (and definitely thoughtful), but I’ll save the basics for picking up at Target.
Kan Can Elyssa Distressed Frayed Hem Skinny Jean ($58)
This is a really great price for jeans from Stitch Fix! And the quality is good. These are probably the best fitting jeans I’ve ever gotten, which is saying something, because I’ve gotten a lot of nice jeans over the years from Stitch Fix. Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of the detailing on the knees on these. My husband says they look silly and, well, he’s the one looking at me all day. I don’t really disagree, but I’ve seen this detail look great on others. Sigh. I think I’ll ask if they have any non- distressed, regular jeans from this brand for my next Fix. Because seriously, the fit is so good!
Coin 1804 Anggun Fair Isle Pullover ($58)
This definitely fits the comfy sweater idea of my Fix! It’s just a little itchy, and the neck line is pretty high (read: oddly uncomfortable). My stylist sized up on this for me, which I think was a great idea, since the sleeves seem to be tighter up by the shoulders. A Small probably wouldn’t have worked. I’m not sold on the print, but I don’t dislike it. Basically, overall, I feel like this is okay.

Even though I’m only keeping one piece, I’m really impressed with my stylist. Her note as super sweet, thoughtful, and even had a pun in it. If there is one thing you must know about me, it’s that I’m all about puns. My co-workers say I tell dad jokes, but I think they’re hilarious, so whatever. Anyway, I feel like this Fix pushed me out of my comfort zone a bit, which I like. It didn’t work out this time, but it’s great trying things I normally wouldn’t in the comfort of my own home. My stylist is always so wonderful and thorough! Julian, if you read this, you’re awesome!
With dreams of Stitch Fix gift cards in my stocking, I’m planning to schedule another Fix for around Christmas, if I can. I’m loving that the bell sleeve look is back, since that’s a look I’ve always loved. I’ll be asking for something with those sleeves, more sweaters, and some non-distressed jeans. Hopefully I will be back writing about another Fix soon!
Never heard of Stitch Fix before?
What exactly is it? Stitch Fix is this great online service where a personal stylist sends you five items they think you’ll love. Here’s how it works:
1. Sign up! My referral link is: https://www.stitchfix.com/invite/zsbcmtchf4?sod=w&som=c
2. Fill out your “Style Profile”. Be honest and make sure you add lots of notes so your stylist can really get to know you! Also, I definitely recommend adding a Pinterest board, if you have one. Plus, if you’re like me and don’t like to spend too much on clothes, I’d add something along the lines of “Please be economical, I rarely spend more than $20 on any item”.
3. Set up when you would like your “Fix” shipped. You can have these sent out automatically every 2-3 weeks, every month, every other month, etc, OR you can just pick a date without setting up automatic shipments.
4. Add a note to your stylist. I always say something along the lines of, “I need cardigans for work” or, “I’m looking for a perfect date night dress”.
5. Pay a $20 styling fee (if you keep one item or more, that $20 goes towards your order!)
6. Get high-quality clothes and accessories delivered to your door! Try them on in the comfort of your home with your favorite other pieces. Take three days (or more, depending if your shipment comes early) to decide what you love and don’t love. Send any unwanted items back with free shipping. Keep all five items, get 25% off your whole order. Pay online and let them know what you think of each item. It’s the easiest, most convenient thing I’ve ever done.
